AUTOFREI

The project "AUTOFREI" is dedicated to the question of how the transformation to climate-neutral travel traffic at tourist destinations can be achieved. The aim is to help make it easier for guests to stay car-free and also to enable locals and tourism staff to be less dependent on motorized mobility.

CAR(E)FREE: Services for urban holidaymakers at rural tourist destinations fostering accessibility enabled by proximity

Based on findings from mobility behaviour research and type-specific behaviour change potentials as well as research results in the field of GIS-based analysis of target group-specific climate-neutral accessibility needs, AUTOFREI aims to develop transformation concepts. These concepts are intended to improve accessibility both for the leisure activity profiles of tourists from urban regions and for the everyday activity profiles of the local population and tourism employees in tourist municipalities. The focus is on achieving climate neutrality and avoiding motorized mobility in the context of leisure and tourism.

The Alpine Pearls members Mallnitz, Weissensee and Werfenweng are participating in the project as pilot municipalities.
