Fun Mobility Winter:
The Pearl
Mallnitz, a mountaineer's paradise located at 1,200 meters above sea level in a high valley to the south of the main Alpine ridge, is nestled inside the awesome mountain range of the "Hohe Tauern" National Park. This "wonder world right in the heart of Europe" offers all a hiker's heart desires: majestic ice-capped peaks, the largest glaciers of the Eastern Alps, thunderous waterfalls, and romantic mountain lakes. In winter, snow is practically guaranteed on Ankogel mountain towering over Mallnitz. This ski area has the most snow of Austria's entire Carinthia area. In addition, Mallnitz offers skating and cross-country ski runs, each around 20 kilometers long, a true Eldorado for enthusiasts of these Nordic disciplines.
Soft mobility connections
Want to take a vacation trip without impacting the environment? Wondering about high energy prices and the threat of global warming? Not a problem for Mallnitz visitors: Mallnitz is the highest IC/EC station of the "Tauernbahn" railway line. The Mallnitz/Obervellach train station connects with international express trains from the North (via Salzburg) and from the South (via Villach). Every hour, a train arrives in Mallnitz. This is sustainable and comfortable vacationing at its best. If you are visiting one of the Alpine Pearls guest houses, just let us know your arrival and departure times and we will pick you up at the train station and bring you there when you have to leave. At no cost to you!
Soft mobility in the pearl
We provide you with train shuttle service, airport shuttle service (Klagenfurt and Salzburg), hikers' buses and free skiers' buses in the winter, après-ski taxi, and bikers' and hikers' buses serving the entire National Park region. The Ankogel high mountain railways help you reach the ideal spot for starting your mountaineering trip in the higher Alpine regions. When you stay at our Alpine Pearls guest houses and purchase an ALPINE PEARLS CARD, more mobility opportunities are available to you, mostly free of charge.
